Editing Personal Pages

The departmental Plant Biology site uses a CMS (content management system) called Drupal which allows for us to create individual user accounts for people. Once the account is created we can then assign the account to a specific page(s) as an author. This then gives the author of the page the ability to make edits using an intuitive WYSIWYG editor. This is what we have done with the faculty's homepages. Each faculty member has an assigned user account that has authoring privileges to their personal page(s) and their page(s) only. Below are some links to tutorials we have created to assist faculty in getting to know their way around editing their personal pages.

If you are a faculty member and have a home page on the departmental Plant Biology site you can use the following links to get to the login sections of the Plant Biology site.

Logging in/out

If you have forgotten your password or need additional assistance getting logged in and/or have editing questions not covered in the tutorials please read the next section (Web Update Requests & Support Requests)


Web Update Requests

Requests for updates of anything pertaining to website updates/additions can be submitted 2 ways:

  1. Sending an E-Mail with a subject of "WEB UPDATE" to plnthelp@msu.edu. This will automatically generate a ticket in our helpdesk system. The subject will help us to properly label the received ticket and categorize it appropriately for delegation.
  2. Browsing to infotech.prl.msu.edu and submitting a ticket directly into our helpdesk system with a message subject of "WEB UPDATE". Again this will help us to properly categorize the ticket for delegation.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO SPECIFY WHICH DEPARTMENT YOU BELONG TO WHENEVER SUBMITTING A TICKET TO HELPDESK.

Please, if applicable, attach the appropriate files to the email/ticket you submit to helpdesk. Be as specific as possible in what is to be done so that we can better resolve the issue!


Support Requests

Support Requests can be submitted 2 ways.

  2. Browsing to infotech.prl.msu.edu and submitting the ticket directly into our help desk system.

Please try and be as detailed as possible with your ticket as it will help us to better troubleshoot your issue.
